2017 SEASON IN REVIEW . . .

July 27, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 lost to Hopewell Post 339, 12-2, in the New Jersey State Championship Game at Moody Park in Ewing.

July 26, 2017 - Ryan Meszaros allowed just two runs over 7.2 innings to propel Hamilton Post 31 to the state championship game with an 8-2 victory over Brooklawn Post 72 in the New Jersey Final Eight Tournament at Moody Park in Ewing.

Meszaros allowed runs in the first and second innings, then settled down to hold Brooklawn without a run until Casey Navarro relieved to get the final four outs. Jake Beyer had three RBIs and two runs scored, while C.J. Pittaro and Ryan Mostrangeli each had an RBI and two runs scored.

Brady Plunkett's two-out RBI single broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth, and Hamilton added four runs in the seventh on RBI doubles by Pittaro and Beyer and a two-run single by Chris Cote.

July 25, 2017 - David Stec allowed just one run over seven innings, and Joey Sacco had two hits, an RBI, and three runs scored as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Flemington Post 159, 8-1, in the New Jersey Final Eight Tournament at Moody Park in Ewing. The victory advances Hamilton to the state semifinals.

Jake Beyer drove in a run in the first inning and Ryan Mostrangeli drove in another in the third. In the fourth, Sacco's two-out bunt single plated two runs and C.J. PIttaro followed with a two-run double.

Stec struggled a bit, but induced four double plays to stay in control. Ryan Meszaros and Chris Cote each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

July 24, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 was awarded a forfeit victory over West Deptford Post 100 in the New Jersey Final Eight Tournament at Moody Park in Ewing.

July 23, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 committed five errors in an 8-4 loss to Bordentown Post 26 in the first game of pool play in the New Jersey Final Eight at Moody Park.

July 19, 2017 - C.J. Pittaro had three hits, an RBI, and scored twice as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Haddon Heights Post 262, 5-4, in the District 2 Tournament at Mercer County Park to advance to the New Jersey Final Eight.

Pittaro singled and scored in the first inning, doubled and scored in the third, and singled in a vital insurance run in the seventh to lead Post 31 to its second Final Eight appearance in the past three years.

Ryan Meszaros pitched six innings, striking out eight batters, to record the victory. Chris Cote worked out of a bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the seventh to record the save.

July 18, 2017 - Sean O'Boyle struck out eight batters and Ryan Mostrangeli had a two-run single as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Broad St. Park Post 313, 3-2, in the District 2 Tournament at Mercer County Park.

The victory moves Post 31 into the final game of the tournament with a chance to advance to the New Jersey Final Eight, which begins Saturday at Moody Park in Ewing.

July 17, 2017 - Jake Beyer had four hits and three RBIs and Casey Navarro threw six shutout innings as Hamilton Post 31 defeated North Warren Post 258, 9-0, in the District 2 Tournament at Mercer County Park.

Beyer drove in two runs in a three-run first inning and another in a two-run second. C.J. Pittaro had two hits and two RBIs for Post 31.

In three starts this season, Navarro has not allowed a run in 20 innings.

July 16, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 stranded 10 runners, including eight with runners in scoring position and less than two outs, in a 6-5 loss to Haddon Heights Post 262 in the District 2 Tournament at Moody Park.

July 15, 2017 - Sean O'Boyle struck out seven batters and Matt Ricci had two hits and two RBIs as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Point Pleasant Boro, 10-0, in the opening game of the District 2 Tournament at Mercer County Park.

Jake Beyer and Kenny Zahn also had two RBIs apiece. O'Boyle allowed just three hits in posting Hamilton's ninth shutout of the season.

July 11, 2017 - Jake Beyer went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Lawrence Post 414, 10-3, at Eggerts Crossing Field to clinch the MCALL pennant.

Hamilton, trailing 1-0, struck for six runs in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by C.J. Pittaro, a sacrifice fly by Ryan Mostrangeli, doubles from Beyer and Matt Ricci, and a two-run single from Chris Cote. Beyer drove in a run with a double in the fifth, Brady Plunkett had an RBI in the sixth, and Beyer added a two-run homer in the seventh. Ryan Meszaros went the distance for his fifth win of the season.

The MCALL pennant is the 31st in the history of Hamilton Post 31 and the 19th for manager Rick Freeman, who took over the reigns in 1985.

July 10, 2017 - Joey Sacco scored three runs, Jake Beyer and Chris Cote each had four RBIs, and David Stec pitched his third shutout of the season as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Hightstown Post 148, 13-0, at Mercer County Park.

Sacco led off the game with a single and ended up scoring on a sacrifice fly by Matt Ricci. Beyer drove in the game's second run with a third-inning single, then later cleared the bases with a triple in the sixth. Cote drove in two runs in the third, and single runs in the fourth and sixth.

Stec allowed five hits and three times worked out of jams with a runner on third and less than two outs.

July 9, 2017 - Jake Beyer went 5-for-5 with five RBIs as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Princeton Post 218, 21-5, in a continuation game from June 17, and Casey Navarro threw a one-hit shutout as Post 31 won the regularly-scheduled game, 9-0. Both games were played at Rich Giallella Field.

Beyer had two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored as Hamilton took a 5-0 lead on June 17 at PDS before rain stopped the game in the bottom of the third inning. He picked up where he left off when the game was continued, driving in four runs with two doubles and a single. Beyer also scored four runs.

Navarro allowed only a two-out, sixth-inning single in posting his second shutout of the season. Alex Coleman and Kenny Zahn both had two-run doubles for Hamilton.

July 8, 2017 - Brady Plunkett had three hits and three RBIs, and Sean O'Boyle fired a two-hit shutout as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Allentown, 9-0, at Rich Giallella Field.

Chris Cote, Kenny Zahn, and Jake Beyer had two RBIs each, and C.J. Pittaro scored four runs for Post 31.

O'Boyle struck out nine and allowed only one runner to reach second in notching his third complete game of the season.

July 6, 2017 - Ryan Meszaros struck out seven batters and Ryan Mostrangeli went 3-for-3 with three RBIs as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Trenton Post 93, 11-1, at Rich Giallella Field.

Post 31 broke open a 2-1 game by scoring six runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth. Mostrangeli's two-run single and a run-scoring triple by Jake Beyer were the big blows in the fourth, while Brady Plunkett and C.J. Pittaro had RBI singles in the fifth.

July 5, 2017 - Matt Ricci hit a three-run homer and David Stec struck out eight batters as Hamilton Post 31 defeated South Brunswick Post 401, 10-1, at Rowland Park.

Ricci's homer was part of a five-run fourth inning. Jake Beyer had two RBIs for Post 31, Ryan Mostrangeli had three hits and an RBI, and Joey Sacco scored twice.

July 3, 2017 - Joey Sacco's two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning broke a 3-3 tie and Hamilton Post 31 went on to defeat Washington Twp. Post 521, 7-5, to win the championship game in the inaugural Hamilton Holiday Classic at Bob DeMeo Field.

Hamilton fell behind, 3-0, in the first inning, but then chipped away, scoring a run in the fourth on an RBI double by Matt Ricci and a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Ryan Mostrangeli. In the sixth, Hamilton mounted a two-out rally. Brendan James scored on a wild pitch to tie the game, then Sacco's single put Post 31 ahead. Mostrangeli then followed with a two-run double.

Maguire Balke went five innings to secure the victory. Casey Navarro finished with two innings of relief, striking out the potential tying run in the last of the seventh.

July 2, 2017 - Josh Lyons and David Stec combined on a four-hit shutout as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Haddon Heights Post 262, 2-0, at Rich Giallella Field in the third round of the inaugural Hamilton Holiday Classic.

Lyons threw four innings, striking out four batters, and Stec completed the shutout by fanning five in three innings of work. The victory advances Post 31 to the championship game.

Joey Sacco had three hits for Post 31. Ryan Mostrangeli and Chris Harkness each had an RBI.

July 1, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 lost to Washington Twp. Post 521, 4-0, at Rich Giallella Field in the second round of the inaugural Hamilton Holiday Classic.

July 1, 2017 - Jake Beyer's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Ryan Mostrangeli with the winning run as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Hightstown Post 148, 3-2, at Rich Giallella Field.

With the game tied at 2-2, Mostrangeli led off the inning with a single, stole second, then came around on Beyer's second RBI of the day.

Sean O'Boyle went the distance for Post 31, striking out seven and allowing one earned run.

June 30, 2017 - Casey Navarro threw a complete-game five-hitter as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Hillsborough, 2-0, at Rich Giallella Field in the opening round of the inaugural Hamilton Holiday Classic.

Navarro worked out of bases-loaded jams in the second and fourth innings, and retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced in earning his first win of the season.

Joey Sacco had two hits for Post 31.

June 29, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 scored five runs in the first two innings and went on to defeat Bordentown Post 26, 10-4, at Gilder Park.

Jake Beyer, Kenny Zahn, and Matt Ricci drove in first-inning runs, and then Beyer and Zahn added RBIs in the second inning. Chris Harkness had a two-run double in the third, and Joey Sacco drove in two runs with a fifth-inning single and C.J. Pittaro plated a run with a groundout.

Maguire Balke pitched five innings to record his third win of the season, while Ryan Meszaros pitched the final two frames to earn his first save.

June 27, 2017 - David Stec threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out six and walking none, as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Allentown, 6-0, at Mercer County Park.

In gaining his second shutout of the season, Stec did not allow a baserunner past second base and retired the final 11 batters he faced.

Ryan Mostrangeli had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, while Joey Sacco had an RBI triple and C.J. Pittaro blasted an RBI double.

June 26, 2017 - Defensive miscues and untimely hitting led to Hamilton Post 31 losing to Hopewell Post 339, 4-2, at Rich Giallella Field.

June 25, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 swept Ewing Post 314, 11-1 and 11-0, in a doubleheader at Rich Giallella Field.

Maguire Balke allowed just one hit and Chris Cote had three RBIs in the opener, while Ryan Meszaros and Casey Navarro combined for the shutout in the nightcap. Chris Harkness had a two-run double and scored three runs, and Ryan Mostrangeli drove in four runs.

June 21, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 fell to Broad St. Park Post 313, 2-0, at Hamilton High, which continued a non-offensive trend. Except for a 17-run outburst on June 15 against Trenton, Post 31 has scored just 29 runs in eight games.

June 19, 2017 - Joey Sacco's two-out single to left in the bottom of the seventh scored Chris Cote with the winning run as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Bordentown Post 26, 4-3, at Rich Giallella Field.

Cote singled with one out and stole second before coming around on Sacco's two-strike drive down the line. For the day, Cote had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.

Sean O'Boyle went the distance, striking out seven, to earn his first win of the season.

June 17, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 jumped out to a 5-0 lead over Princeton Post 218 at PDS before rain stopped play in the bottom of the third inning. The game will be continued from that point as part of a doubleheader on July 9.

June 15, 2017 - Matt Ricci had three hits and three RBIs, and Joey Sacco and Ryan Mostrangeli had three hits apiece and scored three runs each as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Trenton Post 93, 17-1, at Wetzel Field.

Ricci's two-run double in the first inning opened the scoring. Mostrangeli had a two-run double in teh second, and Jake Beyer, Brady Plunkett, and Chris Cote had two RBIs each.

Josh Lyons and Casey Navarro split the pitching, with Lyons picking up the victory and Navarro recording his first save.

June 14, 2017 - David Stec threw a complete-game shutout and C.J. Pittaro homered and had four RBIs as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Lawrence Post 414, 7-0, at Rich Giallella Field.

Stec allowed six hits and struck out five, walking none, in his second complete game of the season.

Pittaro drove in Hamilton's first run with a first-inning single and came around to score on a two-hit single by Matt Ricci. Brendan James had a two-run double in the fourth and Pittaro added a three-run homer in the fifth.

June 13, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 allowed three unearned runs and stranded 11 baserunners in a 3-1 loss to South Brunswick 401 at Rich Giallella Field.

June 11, 2017 - Maguire Balke threw a three-hitter, allowing just an unearned run, as Hamilton Post 31 defeated North Hamiton, 5-1, at Rich Giallella Field.

Balke struck out two and walked just one in a route-going performance. Hamilton struck for five runs in the second inning as C.J. Pittaro's bases-loaded double was the big blow.

The victory was the 800th for Rick Freeman as the manager of Post 31. Overall in his career, Freeman has 980 victories including his time as head coach at Mercer County Community College.

June 9, 2017 - Hamilton Post 31 was victim of a three-run seventh inning in losing to Broad St. Park 313, 3-2, at Rich Giallella Field.

June 8, 2017 - Jake Beyer had three hits and an RBI as Hamilton Post 31 defeated Hopewell Post 339, 5-3, at Hopewell Valley High School.

Hamilton, trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, got on the board when Alex Coleman's sacrifice fly plaed C.J. Pittaro. Post 31 then scored four times in the fifth, sparked by a two-run double by Pittaro and a sacrifce fly by Beyer.

Ryan Meszaros pitched five innings to earn his first win of the season. Sean O'Boyle finished with two scoreless innings to notch his first save.

June 4, 2017 - Matt Ricci had two hits and three RBIs and David Stec pitched a complete game as Hamilton Post 31 defeated North Hamilton, 5-2, at Bob DeMeo Field in the season opener for both teams.

Both C.J. Pittaro and Jake Beyer had three hits and an RBI as Post 31 won its season opener for the eighth straight year.

Hamilton scored four runs in the third on run-scoring singles from Pittaro and Beyer, and a two-run double off the bat of Ricci. Ricci drove in the final run with a fifth-inning single. Stec struck out two and walked none as he took a shutout into the final frame.
